What gangs are in Los Angeles?
These are the gangs that have been discovered so far.
There are over 200 gangs in the Los Angeles County. There are 46 gangs in San Fernando Valley, 43 in South LA Eastside Southside, 34 in Central, 22 gangs in South LA Westside/ Southside, 21 in Boyle Heights. Other places have way less like in North East LA there are 14, 9 in Hollywood, 9 in San Pedro, Wilmington & Harbor and 8 gangs West LA. Some of these gangs have been around since 1920. In conclusion, even though there are so many gangs here in Los Angeles, it doesn’t mean you aren’t safe, the LAPD police officers are out there every day looking out for you.
The Central area of Los Angeles is represented by Mid City, Pico Union, Westlake, Silver lake, Echo Park & Downtown areas of the city, south of the 5 Freeway, east of Crenshaw Blvd, west of Alameda and north of the 10 Freeway.

The gangs in Boyle Heights identify with East Los Angeles (East LOS / ELA) but the jurisdiction of East Los Angeles is east of Indiana which is unincorporated Los Angeles County policed by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s department, and Boyle Heights is in the City of Los Angeles, policed by the Hollenbeck Department of the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD).

The neighborhoods of North East Los Angeles include Atwater Village, City Terrace, Cypress, El Sereno, Garvanza, Glassell Park, Highland Park, Montecito Heights, Monterey Hills and Mount Washington.

The area of Hollywood is northwest from downtown Los Angeles. Communities of Los Angeles do not normally have boundaries, but on February 16, 2005, boundaries of Hollywood were officially defined to include the areas of Los Feliz, Griffith Park, and the cities of Burbank & Glendale which are not considered “Hollywood” by most.

The San Fernando Valley covers the northern section of the City of Los Angeles and it is commonly referred to as “The Valley.” The Valley also includes the three smaller cities of Burbank, Glendale & San Fernando City.

These gangs are located in South Los Angeles south of the 10 Freeway east of the Harbor 110 Freeway and west of Alameda in Los Angeles. Some of these neighborhoods claim Eastside (E/S) while some claim Southside (S/S). Keep in mind that some neighborhoods on the westside of Main Street claim Southside also. The list below are the neighborhoods that are geographically situated on the Eastside of Los Angeles, but while some claim Eastside others do claim Southside.

The Westside section of South LA is defined by the Santa Monica 10 Freeway (north) and Main Street (east) the Imperial Highway (south) and west to La Cienaga. Many of these neighborhoods claim Westside, but there are some that claim Southside, but all these neighborhoods are geographically located on the Westside, west of Main Street.
